The Artist Voice residency returns in 2025!

Artist Voice is a programme that amplifies Black artists of the African/Caribbean Diaspora working with dance and performance.

We are looking for 2 early career black dance artists of the African/Caribbean diaspora with an idea ready for development to join the Artist Voice 2025 residency and performance platform.

This paid residency will support the two (2) early career choreographers and/or dance artists to develop professionally and creatively through researching, choreographing and performing a work in progress performance at the Artist Voice performance platform.

The Artist Voice platform will be featured at Tramway’s Dance International Glasgow Festival (DIG) in May 2025 and will include a performance from South African artist Thulisile Binda.

The selected artists will develop their performances alongside a creative mentor, a lighting designer and a costume supervisor with studio support from leading dance organisations in Scotland, The Work Room and Dancebase.

Key Information:

  • Artist fee: £2,640 (approx 4 paid weeks or 20 days)

  • Residency duration: February - May 2025

  • Performance: 21st May 2025

The Residency also includes:

  • £500 for materials and research costs

  • a creative mentor to support you throughout the residency

  • Studio time with leading dance organisations (The Work Room and Dancebase) and development time at Tramway.

  • Dedicated time working with a costume designer and lighting designer
